This model was revealed by Junichiro Okawa at the Nintendo shareholders' meeting in July 2020. On January 16, 2025, Nintendo officially announced the next generation Switch 2 game console.

On the evening of April 2nd, Beijing time, the Japanese game company Nintendo held a live stream, officially announcing that the new game console "Nintendo Switch 2" (also known as "Switch 2") will be released on June 5th. Currently, Nintendo has set the price for the Japanese version of Switch 2 at 49,980 yen (approximately 2,400 yuan), and for the multilingual version at 69,980 yen (approximately 3,400 yuan).
In addition, Nintendo will hold two live streams on April 3rd and April 4th at 10pm to introduce the Switch 2 console.



On that day, Nintendo announced the hardware specifications of Switch 2. The new console uses a 7.9inch LCD screen with 1080P resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and the controller can be used as a mouse. In addition, the Nintendo Switch 2 has built-in 256GB storage space, which is 8 times larger than the previous generation. After connecting the Switch 2 game console to the TV using the dedicated base, it supports 4K resolution output and HDR effect.
As early as July 2020, Nintendo exposed the news of the development of Switch 2 at the Nintendo shareholders meeting. In February 2024, a Nintendo spokesperson made a brief response to the rumors that Switch 2 would be postponed to early 2025. On January 16 this year, Nintendo released the first trailer of Switch 2 and announced the news of the direct meeting on April 2.
During the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March this year, market research firm Omdia predicted that Switch 2 global sales are expected to reach 15 million units in 2025. At the same time, many institutions have previously predicted that the price of Switch 2 will be between US$399 (approximately RMB 2,900) and US$499 (approximately RMB 3,650).

According to public information, Switch is a game console launched by Nintendo in March 2017. Since its launch, it has won the favor of global players with its unique "host + handheld" hybrid design. The initial launch price is US$299.99 (about RMB 2,200) for the US version and JPY 29,980 (about RMB 1,800) for the Japanese version.
Switch is equipped with a 6.2-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 720P, built-in 32GB storage space, and supports microSD card expansion. As of December 31, 2024, this console has sold more than 150 million units, and the cumulative sales of game software have now reached 1.359 billion copies, becoming the leader in the console sales list.
It is worth mentioning that Tencent officially announced a cooperation with Nintendo in April 2019, becoming the exclusive agent operator of the Switch in China, and began to promote product introduction and localization adaptation. On December 10, 2019, the Chinese version of Switch was officially released in mainland China. The basic version was priced at 2,099 yuan, including games such as "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe" and access to Tencent's localized network services. In November 2024, Tencent suddenly announced that it would gradually stop the network services of the Chinese version of Switch from March 31, 2026, including e-store downloads, online battles and other functions.
